Tile is where a bathroom either looks finished or doesn't. We handle bathroom tile from a single cracked tile to a full remodel: wall tile and shower surrounds, floors, hex mosaic shower floors, built-in niches, and regrouting. We also fix and finish tile jobs that someone else started or didn't get right.

Bathroom and tile work we do
- Bathroom remodels: tear-out, new tile, and the carpentry and trim that tie the room together. Plumbing and electrical work is done by trusted subcontractors in those trades, planned before the tile goes up.
- Wall tile and shower surrounds: layout planned so cuts land in the corners instead of the middle of the wall, with straight, even grout lines.
- Tile floors: bathroom, laundry, and entry floors, set flat on a solid, properly prepared subfloor.
- Hex mosaic shower floors: small tiles follow the slope to the drain better than large ones and add grip underfoot.
- Shower niches: built-in shelves for shampoo and soap, framed, waterproofed, and tiled to line up with the wall tile.
- Tile repair and regrouting: cracked tiles replaced, crumbling or stained grout ground out and replaced, and fresh caulk where walls meet tubs and floors.
- Fixing botched tile jobs: uneven tile edges, wavy grout lines, hollow-sounding or loose tiles, showers that hold water, and failed caulk.
What's behind the tile matters most
Tile and grout are not waterproof on their own. A shower lasts when the wall behind the tile is a water-resistant backer board with a waterproofing membrane, and the shower floor is sloped so water reaches the drain. Drywall, or missing waterproofing, behind shower tile is a common reason for loose tiles, mold, and soft walls years later.
Repair, regrout, or redo?
If the tiles are solid and the problem is dirty, cracked, or missing grout, regrouting is a cost-effective fix. If tiles sound hollow, move when pressed, or the wall behind them is soft, that section usually needs to come out so the backer and waterproofing can be fixed first. We'll tell you which one your bathroom needs after we look at it.
Older bathrooms: Some tile, adhesives, and joint compound installed before about 1980 may contain asbestos, and paint in pre-1978 homes may contain lead. Suspect materials should be tested before they're broken up or sanded.
What affects price
Square footage, tile size and pattern (small mosaics and large-format tile both take more labor), how much demolition is involved, the condition of the wall and floor behind the tile, niches and trim pieces, and whether plumbing or electrical changes are part of the job.
